“We have no hope of solving our problems without harnessing the diversity, the energy, and the creativity of all our people”
Roger Wilkins
Hope is defined as the feeling of an optimistic expectation of a positive outcome. As we navigate the current social and political situation, it is hard not to let fatigue set in and become overwhelmed.
Diversity and social justice work have always been both challenging and vital, but possibly no more than our current era both nationally and globally. It is often hard to maintain hope that we can have any positive impact toward combating the disheartening directions and paralyzing practices currently being implemented. How can we navigate this tumultuous era together to get to a more equitable space that honors and celebrates all human beings? How can we reflect this mindset in our classrooms and communities?
This year at PA NAME 2026, we are looking for stories of hope. What are some ways you are kindling a light of hope in your own context: classroom, school, or community? How are we helping each other sustain hope? How can we ignite change? We invite proposals that identify the challenges, but lead us toward a collective light of respect and celebration of our rich diversity.
